Personal Interests

Cosplay

I spend a lot of time cosplaying. It is a hobby that combines creativity and a love of characters from games to anime. I particularly love Texas (as in picture 1 and 2 on the right) and Logos (as in picture 3 on the right) in the mobile phone game Arknights.

Gaming

I play Arknights and Cities: Skylines regularly. Arknights draws me in with its strategic tower-defence gameplay and richly built world, while Cities: Skylines satisfies my interest in urban design and social planning, which is also related to the questions I study in political economy.

Finance & Investment

I follow developments in economics and finance, and invest in financial markets, particularly in large-cap tech and blue-chip companies. Tracking markets is a practical way to apply the quantitative and economic reasoning I use in research, and it keeps me engaged with how institutions and policy decisions translate into real-world outcomes.

Languages

I study languages including Japanese, Korean, Welsh, and others. Language learning appeals to me both as an intellectual exercise and as a way of engaging more directly with different cultures and bodies of knowledge. Welsh in particular reflects a broader interest in minority languages and their social and political contexts.

Design Aesthetics

I particularly enjoy retro design aesthetics such as Bauhaus and mid-century modern. Clean geometry, purposeful typography, and honest use of materials have a timeless appeal that I find lacking in a lot of contemporary design. This is why I built this website in a 2000s-style design, a deliberate aesthetic choice rather than a technical constraint.
